VISIT TO LONDON!|
So here are four bleary eyed Year 6 and Year 5 school councillors at Lancaster Train Station at 7:15 in the morning of the Thursday the 11th of February. But 'WHY?' you ask. Well they were on a very important mission. To visit and find out about this countries government and how it works. So off to London we needed to go!
And hurrah - only a few hours later we had arrived! The weather was glorious and we were able to take a leisurely walk along the Thames to take in the sites, before eventually arriving at the very grand Houses of Parliament.
We were given a tour of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. It was all very exciting. We learnt a great deal and have a greater understanding of how Members of Parliament are elected and who the main parties are.
After the tour and a well deserved lunch we were able to walk down towards Downing Street. Do you know who lives there? Yes - David Cameron, our current Prime Minister. We didn't see him though, as we were sure he was very busy Prime Ministering!
We were then able to spend some time at the National Gallery and see some wonderful art work, before heading back to Euston Station to catch our train home to Lancaster. What a FANTASTIC day!
Year 5 and 6 councillors went to Pupil Parliament . They did lots of sports and fun activitities in honor of their 'Get up Get going Get active' campaign. First they tried out fencing . After that , they went to the running track and did a running activitie. Next they did judo. Finally, they did archary and had a competition against another team to get the most points! It was really fun and we all had a good time!
